Song for the dawn
Meeting the morning
With an aching neck
And the remains of last night’s
Water on the bedside table.
A new day dawning,
Her hours not written yet.
The sun is too bright
And the curtains gape
Like a yawning mouth
Yesterday went unnoticed
Yesterday just went.
Meeting the morning
Unarmed and
Dust covered
Silently groaning
Through a duvet jacket,
A tired eye
Motions to the door.
Before breakfast
Coffee to pass the time
And the weight
Of teal lit nothing
Against
The great daily climb.
