Not there, but here.

Not in the wisdom
Of all the sages
Not in the stars
That pepper the night
Not in the science
Of passing ages
Nor in the feeding
Of appetites
But in the soul
Of each woman and man
That is unearthed
In love’s soft light
That shakes the mark
From an empty hand
That breaks the tyranny
Of blinded sight.

That is where true peace is found
That is the source of eternal delight.

  1. I've always wondered whether peace, like true joy, can only come from within since the world around us is so disturbing. This piece certainly emphasizes that peace does not come from outside factors (though they may contribute to peaceful moments) but from "the soul of each woman and man." Great poem!
